The VFW is dedicated to promoting patriotism and investing in our future generation. If you are a democracy-loving student grades 6 – 12 interested in preparing for your future then these annual programs are for you.
The Voice of Democracy Program is looking for students in grades 9-12 to enter the Voice of Democracy audio-essay contest. Each year, nearly 40,000 9-12 grade students from across the country enter to win their share of $2.1 million in educational scholarships and incentives awarded through the program. This year student’s audio-essays will be about “American History: Our Hope for the Future.”
The VFW Patriot’s Pen youth essay contest is looking for students in grades 6-8. Each year more than 132,000 students in grades 6-8 to enter the VFW’s Patriot’s Pen youth essay contest. The national awards for this program are $54,500. The essay contest encourages young minds to examine America’s history, along with their own experiences in modern American society. This year students will write about “America’s Gift to My Generation.”
