The objective of OARS is to build a bond between the students and an outstanding adult
in the community. This volunteer could be a mom, dad, grandma, grandpa,
uncle, neighbor, friend, or just someone who cares.
Volunteers are scheduled to meet with the student for one-half hour (regular class time)
to share in his/her learning. During the OARS visit, volunteers enjoy reading with their student,
playing games, talking, and becoming a trusted, reliable role model.
