Student Reports

9-1-2023

Laker Parents and Guardians,

State Assessments fulfill a vital role in our education system, providing a common measurement to assess progress toward state goals for performance from both the student and the school building’s perspective.  The Missouri Assessment Program (MAP) consists of state-wide assessments given to grades 3 - 8 along with End-of-Course (EOC) assessments taken upon the completion of specific high school courses.  MAP assessments were developed in cooperation with teachers and administrators to identify the knowledge, skills, and competencies that are desirable in Missouri graduates.  State Assessment results are analyzed by educators in our district at all levels to determine local strengths and growth areas with the goal of best practice in mind.

An Individual Student Report provides parents and guardians with performance data broken down by category.  For example, the English Language Arts assessment is broken into four subcategories: reading, research, writing, and listening. The points for the subcategories are not evenly weighted.   Remembering that a student is so much more than a single assessment score is important.  State assessments are a valuable tool in the educational process, but they alone do not tell the story of a student’s educational journey. Please contact the building principal if you have questions about your student’s results.  The state will release district assessment results to the public after their data process is complete in December.  If you like a copy of your child’s Individual Student Report, contact the school your child attends and request the report from the guidance counselor.
