Snow Routes
Dear Parent/Guardian of a Camdenton R-III Student,
In the event of inclement weather, our district will often use "snow routes" to help our students and school buses get safely to and from school. These alternate routes allow the buses to run on most major highways, while avoiding some of the more difficult roads.
Because of the wide variety of roads and terrain on which we operate in both Camdenton, Morgan and Laclede Counties, it is not uncommon for roads to be fully passable in some areas of the District while others are still iced or snow-covered. Over the course of the year, we may operate full routes in some areas, while still running snow routes in others based upon the conditions of the roads and routes.
Parents/Guardians should have students meet the bus at the end of gravel roads, lanes, etc., along the route or meet at the "common stops". All times are approximate as weather and road conditions may affect timing.
If winter weather forces the buses to operate on snow routes, these announcements will be made in the same way as all inclement weather-related notifications. Please listen to the announcements carefully to get the information particular to your area or bus route.
Very Important:
Every snow route has a designated stop. We can not stop between designated assigned stops as it would be considered as an extra stop.
Not stopping between designated bus stops will allow us to take out the confusion of extra stops that have been allowed in the past.
The goal is that we all have an understanding and communication of where the designated stop has been assigned.
